This special issue of the International Journal of Human-Computer Inte
raction presents longitudinal research on quality of working life and
stress in office computer work. These recent longitudinal studies exam
ine the relation between people and their work environments in a dynam
ic manner. Conceptual and methodological issues related to the dynamic
study of quality of working life and stress in human-computer interac
tion are discussed in this article.
