H. Okamoto et al., ANALYSIS OF ANTI-STOKES RESONANCE RAMAN EXCITATION PROFILES AS A METHOD FOR STUDYING VIBRATIONALLY EXCITED MOLECULES, The journal of physical chemistry. A, Molecules, spectroscopy, kinetics, environment, & general theory, 101(19), 1997, pp. 3488-3493
Anti-Stokes and Stokes resonance Raman excitation profiles have been o
bserved for the C=C and C-C stretching fundamental bands of carotenoid
s (beta-carotene and canthaxanthin) and analyzed on the basis of the F
ranck-Condon mechanism. It is shown that such an analysis provides a m
ethod for identifying the vibrational levels on which vibrationally ex
cited molecules observed in picosecond pump-probe processes are popula
ted.
