Abstract
Foreign language translation software and translation assistance tools have improved greatly over the last 2-3 years. Due to advances in dat abase technology, new advanced computational linguistic algorithms and the radical price/performance improvements in desktop and workgroup h ardware/software, solutions never before available can now be purchase d at a fraction of previous costs and run on desktop systems. This has caused a rush of new entries into the language translation market. In general this is good. However, it has also made it more difficult for potential new users to select the tool that will best suit their tran slation workload and budget.A short description of selected MT product s (together with the URL, if available) is given in the annex.
