Abstract
The surface conditions of an industrial iron catalyst were monitored i n situ by work function measurements and measurements of thermal desor ption of potassium ions. Changes in activation energy for potassium io n desorption and iu work function values during catalyst activation an d deactivation are discussed in terms of the potassium coverage and ch emical composition of the catalyst surface.
