Os. Zain et Kumar S",shashi, APPLICATION OF MODIFIED NONLINEAR ORTHOMIN TO CHEMICAL PROCESS SIMULATION, Hungarian journal of industrial chemistry, 26(1), 1998, pp. 13-18
Many process models in chemical engineering consist of a set of non-li
near algebraic and transcendental equations. The evaluation of their p
erformances require the solution of these equations. This paper illust
rates the application of Modified Non-linear Orthomin (MNLOM) for solv
ing problems of chemical engineering interest. MNLOM is a recent metho
d for solving a system of non-linear equations, in which square of the
norm of function vector is minimised in each of the conjugate directi
ons. Its success with the problems chosen, particularly from the Chemi
cal Kinetics and Reactor Design, signifies positively of its accuracy
and robustness. It is our view that MNLOM is a potential method and it
should be made use of in Chemical Process Simulation.
