The family interaction test for preschool-aged children (FIT-C 95) is
a family diagnostic method in game form that is suitable for children
aged four and over. The test assesses the childrens perspective on par
ental behavior (Subscales: Help, Cooperation, Rejection, Restriction)
and on their own behavior (Help-seeking, Diplomacy, Obstinacy) in prob
lem situations,as well as cooperation and conflict situations. The FIT
-C 95 consists of 39 items requiring about 20 minutes to complete. The
current version of the test was administered to 216 four to six year
old children. Internal consistency and stability are satisfactory. Val
idity data show clearly that children's perceptions of the parent-chil
d interaction as measured by the FIT-C 95 predict the cognitive and so
cial development of children and are superior to the corresponding par
ents' assessments.
