A 22 month old female Main Coon Cat was presented with progressive hin
d limb paresis to the Surgical Animal Hospital of the Freie University
Berlin. Clinical examination und laboratory diagnostic revealed a spi
nal cord degeneration of the lumbar segments. Since the neurological d
eficits had progressed over a period of 4 months involving a worsening
of the general condition the cat had to be euthanised. The post morte
m examination showed leucodystrophy of the spinal cord and degeneratio
n of the ventral horn cells in the lumbar segments. The pathogenesis w
as not stated, but storage diseases were ruled out.
