Abstract
We study the three-string junctions and string networks in Type IIB st ring theory by explicitly constructing the holomorphic embeddings of t he M-theory membrane that describe such configurations. The main featu re of them such as supersymmetry, charge conservation and balance of t ensions are derived in a more unified manner. We calculate the energy of the string junction and show that there is no binding energy associ ated with the junction. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
