Abstract
We have measured the polarization of He-5(Delta) produced by the (pi(), K+) reaction for the first time by observing the asymmetric emissio n of its weak decay pions. The large asymmetry parameter of the mesoni c decay, which is unique He-5(Delta), made the measurement possible. T he measurement is consistent with the theoretical prediction by which the mechanism of the hypernuclear polarization was clarified. This tec hnique will open a new field to the spectroscopic study of hypernuclei .
