E. Melcher et Rd. Peek, METHODS FOR TESTING THE BEHAVIOR OF ACTIV E INGREDIENTS OF WOOD PRESERVATIVES IN SOILS - POSSIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS, Holz als Roh- und Werkstoff, 56(2), 1998, pp. 103-106
In the past, investigations concerning the environmental behaviour of
wood preservatives were made to an increasing extent but no uniform me
thods of test exist up to now. The adsorption-desorption-or migration
behaviour of active ingredients of wood preservatives in soils can be
investigated both in experiments on a practical scale and on a laborat
ory scale. Both investigation results are only generally valid to a li
mited extent, due to the variability of the substance system wood pres
ervative/soil. Laboratory tests, however, are more suitable for the pu
rpose of ecotoxicological assessments as new generations of wood prese
rvatives can be incorporated in the observations. As a main point the
possibilities of batch and column tests are discussed in the article.
