Abstract
A number of flow measurements have been performed in a 0.05 m diameter pilot-scale downflow circulating fluidized bed including the axial pr essure profile, the axial evolution of the average particle concentrat ion and radial profile of the local particle velocity. A change in the material of construction of the reactor, thus changing the electrosta tic effects, had little to no influence on the measured variables. Red uced radial particle velocity profiles near the reactor outlet were es sentially the same, even though the gas still Rows, on average, faster than the particles at this point.
