Abstract
A cytogenetic study on Equus asinus is presented. Ten animals from the pyrenean breed of donkeys named <<Ane des Pyrenees>> and eleven from another breed named <<Baudet du Poitou>> were investigated using CBG a nd GTG banding. Five animals from <<Baudet du Poitou>> breed presented an abnormality : their karyotype is characterized by a partial deleti on of the p arm of one chromosome n(o) 1 and by a telomeric extra-mate rial on the p arm of one chromosome n(o) 4. A partial translocation be tween these two chromosomes is hypothesized.
