Cr. Fuerteesquivel et al., EFFICIENT OBJECT-ORIENTED POWER-SYSTEMS SOFTWARE FOR THE ANALYSIS OF LARGE-SCALE NETWORKS CONTAINING FACTS-CONTROLLED BRANCHES, IEEE transactions on power systems, 13(2), 1998, pp. 464-470
This paper presents the methodology used in the development of a new g
eneration of soft ware suitable for the analysis and control of large-
scale power networks containing FACTS-controlled branches. A Newton-Ra
phson load flow is used in this paper to emphasise the benefits and dr
awbacks introduced by the Object Oriented Technology when applied to '
number-crunching' power engineering solutions. The Newton-Raphson algo
rithm exhibits quadratic convergence far cases with FACTS-Controlled b
ranches. Full details of the prowess of this algorithm are given in a
companion paper. C++ has been used to develop compact and easy-to-main
tain power systems conventional sparsity software. To aid portability
the software has been developed under the UNIX(TM) environment.
