Abstract
Regenerated buds from in vitro cultured leaves of Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) have been obtained on a MSM medium supplemented with saccha rose (20 g.l(-1)) and various concentrations (0.5 mg.l(-1) et 2 mg.l(- 1)) of BAP. Best results were observed using young leaves from in vitr o micropropagated plants, cultivated in the dark. Different stages of differentiation during caulogenesis were characterized by Scanning Ele ctron Microscopy (SEM). After 5 days, a meristematic area developed fr om the base of the leaf. Ten days further neoformed buds could be obse rved and a secretory system was early differentiated. Gas Chromatograp hy (GC) analysis revealed terpene accumulation in the glandular struct ures.
