Abstract
For the last 150 years considerable confusion has surrounded the circu mscription of the taxa within Diplaspis Hook. f. The nomenclatural and taxonomic history of the genus is reviewed, and the current species l imits are assessed. Diplaspis hydrocotyle Hook. f. and D. cordifolia H ook. f. are considered to be restricted to Tasmania, and D. nivis, a n ew species from the alpine region of the Australian mainland, is descr ibed.
