A method of instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) is develop
ed for the determination of platinum by the Au-199 daughter of Pt-199
in the presence of the spectral interference from the Sc-47 daughter o
f Ca-47. The contributions of the Pt and Ca signals to the integral 15
7-161 keV peak were separated by calculating the number of disintegrat
ions due to the Sc-47 from the signal of her parent Ca-47 at 1297.1 ke
V gamma-ray. The method was used to calculate the trace concentrations
of Pt in air samples, collected on filters, (C) 1998 Elsevier Science
