High-spin states of odd-odd Lu-168 were observed up to 18h for the fir
st time using the Tb-159(C-13, 4n gamma)Lu-168 reaction at E-13C = 58.
5 MeV. gamma - gamma coincidence, E-gamma singles, excitation function
, and the DCO ratios were measured. Two rotational bands with signatur
e splitting were populated, among which the lower-energy band is ident
ified as pi 7/2(+)[404] circle times nu 5/2(+)[642] in view of alignme
nt and energy systematics.
