Rw. Stewart et al., ANALYSIS OF THE INPLANE PROPERTIES OF HYBRID GLASS CARBON WOVEN FABRIC COMPOSITES/, Composite structures, 39(3-4), 1997, pp. 319-328
In the present study, standard solutions for the in-plane stiffness pr
operties of a satin weave are expanded to a symmetrical laminate solut
ion. Arbitrary unit cell sizes and orientations can now be incorporate
d. Once the properties of a single hybrid glass-carbon weave are estab
lished, they can be used to explain the behaviour of the laminate. It
is found that a 0/45/0 laminate provides the best in-plane stiffness p
roperties when the thicknesses of the three layers are identical. It i
s also shown that an error introduced to the angular orientation of th
e layup can lead to a significant change in laminate behaviour. (C) 19
