The cyclic dimer 1 was obtained by the reaction of the diradical -bis(
N-tert-butyl-N-oxylamino)-5-tert-butylbenzene with Mn(hfac)(2). A spin
transition occurs in 1 on cooling due to ferromagnetic coupling via t
he bidentate diradical ligand. The temperature dependence of the magne
tic properties can be interpreted quantitatively in the frame of the H
DvV formalism.
