Abstract
The authors have isolated a unique anaerobic rod Bilophila wadsworthia from a necrotizing acute pancreatitis. This bacteria is rarely isolat ed from most infections and exceptionally alone. Bacteriological chara cteritics are reviewed as well as the potential pathogenic role of thi s rod and literature on hepato-biliary infections associated to B. wad sworthia.
