Abstract
Several theories of the planetary boundary layer that retain thr flow accelerations in approximate form are compared. Two special test cases focus on the role of tither local or convective accelerations. The se migeotriptic theory of Cullen predicts the boundary layer pumping most accurately for the casts and parameter range considered here.
