ABSCESS FORMATION WITHIN A PARASAGITTAL MENINGIOMA - CASE-REPORT

The authors present the case of a 78-year-old woman who developed righ t lower-extremity paralysis after a focal seizure. Neuroradiological s tudies revealed a small parasagittal meningioma, which at the time of resection was found to contain a bacterial intratumoral abscess second ary to Proteus mirabilis. This is only the second reported case of int ratumoral abscess formation in a meningioma and the first such occurre nce to be reported in an otherwise healthy, immunocompetent individual .
