Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) is a rare degenerative genetic disease. Howe
ver; it's the more frequently one in all the degenerative ocular affec
tions. The comorbidity with psychiatric disorders is rarely reported i
n the literature. Some studies schowed an association with recurrent d
epression and alcoholism. The case of a patient suffering from RP and
who presented a rich psychiatric symptomatology is reported. This como
rbidity must be noted because of the implication of the 1 and 11 chrom
osome in the RP and because some sites of this chromosome are implicat
ed in mental diseases in which addiction and alcoholism.
