S. De et al., POTENTIAL USE OF PEDILANTHUS TITHYMALOIDES POIT AS A RENEWABLE RESOURCE OF PLANT HYDROCARBONS, Zhongyang yanjiuyuan. zhiwuxue huikan, 38(2), 1997, pp. 105-108
Pedilanthus ththymaloides was evaluated as an incessantly renewable an
d potential source of hydrocarbons. Extracts were obtained from succes
sive extraction of whole plant material with solvents like petroleum e
ther (b.p. 60-80 degrees C), benzene (b.p. 80 degrees C) and ethyl ace
tate (76-78 degrees C). A white amorphous mixture of hydrocarbons was
obtained by elution of the column by petroleum ether (b.p. 60-80 degre
es C) which was found to be comparable with gasoline.
