Abstract
DC magnetization and ESR measurements were performed for (Pb,Cu)(1)(Sr ,Gd)(2)(La,Gd)(2)Cu2Oz, and its magnetic properties were investigated. A weak diamagnetism due to superconductivity appeared below 20 K, and the diamagnetic susceptibility was determined as -0.13 at 5 K. A weak ferro- or ferrimagnetic spin coupling occurred in the usual paramagne tic system, and the magnetic susceptibility of ions deviated from Curi e-Weiss law. The exchange field of Gd3+ was also estimated. (C) 1998 E lsevier Science B.V.
