Abstract
The influence of cross-phase modulation on frequency conversion effici ency in third-harmonic generation is investigated. The possibility to control the intensity-dependent phase shift of the third harmonic thro ugh cross-phase modulation is demonstrated. Such a chirp control in op tical-harmonic generation offers much promise for the generation of ul trashort pulses of short-wavelength radiation.
