Abstract
Quantized adiabatic particle transport (QAPT) is considered and verifi ed in a one-dimensional system using numerical simulation. More import antly, suggestions are given for ways to observe QAPT phenomena in ato ms manipulated by laser beams. Although QAPT was originally considered for electrons in periodic substrate potentials, the optical systems p rovide a cleaner and experimentally feasible way to physically realize QAPT. The results in this paper serve as a model for the design of th ese experiments.
