Abstract
Convoy electron spectra have been measured in coincidence with specula rly reflected ions in grazing-incidence collisions of carbon ions with a silicon (100) surface. Absolute yields of convoy electrons have bee n determined experimentally and compared with the results obtained fro m a classical trajectory Monte Carlo simulation. By comparing the velo city dependence of the convoy yields with theory, we are able to asses s the relative contribution to convoy emission from valence and core e lectron capture to continuum states of the projectile.
