Abstract
Individual gaseous species of fullerene chlorides have been successful ly generated in a molecular beam. Knudsen cell mass spectrometry has b een used to detect C60C2n (n = 0...9), C70C2m (m = 0...7) in the vapou r over the system C-60/C-70 (extract) with CrCl3 FeCl3 . 6H(2)O, FeCl3 (anhydrous) and CuCl2 (anhydrous) at temperatures from 520 to 720 K. Bond dissociation enthalpies for the fullerene chlorides have been est imated. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
