L. Reisberg, FACILITATING INCLUSION WITH INTEGRATED CURRICULUM - A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH, Intervention in school and clinic, 33(5), 1998, pp. 272-277
Integrated curriculum is a model that minimizes instruction in isolate
d academic disciplines by combining goals and objectives from a variet
y of areas. Teachers using integrated curriculum may select a subject
for instruction and include related topics from other areas in the uni
t plan. Students with special needs often require instruction in life/
independent living, social, and academic skills; however, those subjec
ts are not normally included in the content of general education class
rooms. By using an integrated curriculum model, teachers can infuse sk
ills from these areas into the typical content focused on in the class
room.
