The changing forces influencing the privacy concerns of the United Sta
tes are discussed. Matters of declining privacy interest as well as em
erging and newly important ones are presented, all from the point of v
iew of implications for business in the early decades of the 21st cent
ury. Two central remedies are proposed that would eliminate the overwh
elming number of corporate and business abuses of privacy. They are th
e monitorization of privacy and the shift in the legal ownership of mo
