Abstract
Although many developing and developed countries have major initiative s to promote the use of information technology (IT), Singapore is one of the few countries which not only has a comprehensive IT2000 vision, but which is also taking proactive steps to make the vision a reality . This paper examines how Singapore is currently leveraging IT applica tions to achieve the IT2000 vision. It also explores some of the uses of IT that will be deployed in the near future. Specifically, this pap er discusses the use of IT applications to provide one-stop, non-stop government and business services, promote cashless transactions, provi de more options for leisure, and facilitate easy commuting.
