'-Bis[N-formyl-N'-p-chlorophenylthiourea]ferrocene was synthesized thr
ough the reaction of 1,1'-bis[formylisothiocyanate]ferrocene with p-ch
loroaniline. Its H-1 NMR, IR and mass spectra were studied. A single c
rystal structure determination showed that there are two intramolecula
r hydrogen bonds between the carbonyl group and N'-H of each N'H-C(S)-
NH-C(O) moiety. They form two parallel planar six-membered rings. In a
ddition, the hydrogen bonding rings are basically in the same plane wi
th the Cp rings to which they are attached. This highlights its proper
ty in molecular recognition.
