We report on the Czochralski growth and optical properties of Ho3+ - a
nd Er3+ - doped strontium lanthanum aluminate (SrLaAlO4) perovskite. T
i-Sapphire laser excitation of the I-4(15/2)-->I-4(9/2)(Er3+) and I-5(
8)-->I-5(4)(Ho3+) transitions in Ho3+ - and Er3+ - doped SrLaAlO4 yiel
ds intense green upconversion fluorescence which persists from 10K thr
ough to room temperature. No upconversion fluorescence could be observ
ed for 800 nm excitation of the H-3(6)-->H-3(4) transitions in Tm3+-do
