Abstract
A purified monoclonal antibody raised against a purified platelet 65 k Da protein that binds to type I collagen receptor was used to see if t he antibody can block the adhesion of platelets to damaged aortic segm ents. The purified antibody binds to the surface of human platelets by flow cytometry. The adhesion of platelets to the damaged aortic segme nts was significantly reduced by the pre-incubation of the platelet-ri ch plasma with the antibody, suggesting that the antibody binds to pla telets and blocks the adhesion of platelets to the aortic segments.
