Jz. Zhu et al., AUTOMATIC CONTINGENCY SELECTION AND RANKING USING AN ANALYTIC HIERARCHICAL PROCESS, Electric machines and power systems, 26(4), 1998, pp. 389-398
A new approach in the power system analysis to automatic contingency s
election (ACS) and ranking, using an analytic hierarchical process (AH
P) is developed. ACS for the real and reactive power subproblems is so
lved by network flow programming, based on the existence of weak coupl
ing between real and reactive quantities in power systems. The perform
ance indices to assess the severity of contingencies are defined as th
e total real and reactive load to be curtailed. In the rank calculatio
n, this paper takes into consideration the relative importance of tran
smission fines and the situation that the real and reactive power secu
rity constraints may be violated as the line outage appears, so that t
he precise information for the real time security analysis can be prov
ided. The results on IEEE-14 bus test system are given in the paper.
