We report on a 50-year old patient who on admission to hospital demons
trated several disorders of sensation of her body which seemed to be b
izarre and exclusively caused by a psychotic disorder. It soon turned
out that a somatological disorder was of primary importance. The sympt
oms of the somatic disorder had been assimilated and shaped psychotica
lly. This serves to show that every patient should be examined careful
ly for somatic disorders regardless of whether existing disorders of s
ensation are bizarre or not.
