The effectiveness of homoeopathic remedies has always been debatable (
e.g. [1, 2]). There are two parties discussing the matter: the support
ers, who claim a big number of successes in therapy, and their antagon
ists, who refuse homoeopathy as being non-scientific. The question of
the effectiveness of homoeopathic high dilutions is discussed very ent
husiastically. Homoeopathy is surely an important curing option for th
e observed successes. These successes should not be ruined by crusades
among the parties. On the contrary, an unprejudiced discussion is nee
ded. This article demonstrates two theses which only appear superficia
lly to be contradictions: 1. Homoeopathic therapy is effective. This h
olds true for high dilutions, too. 2. It is impossible to prove the ef
fectiveness of homoeopathic high dilutions.
