Abstract
Cu K-edge Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) measurement s have been made to understand the local structure of superconducting La2CuO4.1 single crystal. The temperature dependent correlated Debye-W aller factors of Cu-O(planar) and Cu-La pairs show anomalous behavior at similar to 170 K. This temperature has been assigned to the orderin g of CuO6 octahedral tiltings. The results show an interplay between t he structural modulation of the perovskite and rock-salt layers in the title compound. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
