Ma. Moharram et al., ELECTRICAL-CONDUCTIVITY OF POLY(ACRYLIC ACID) - POLYACRYLAMIDE COMPLEXES, Journal of applied polymer science, 68(12), 1998, pp. 2049-2055
The conduction mechanism in the interpolymer complex resulting from th
e interaction between poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) and polyacrylamide (PAA
m) was investigated. The characteristic features of the relation betwe
en the logarithm of conductivity, log sigma, and 1/T are different fro
m those corresponding to the individual components of the complex. The
value of a for the complex was found to be less than its correspondin
g values for PAA or PAAm. The effects of the weight fraction of each p
olymer and the ionic strength of the solutions on the conductivity of
the complex were also studied. The data showed that the a of the compl
ex depends on the weight fraction of the polymers. (C) 1998 John Wiley
