A set of systematic calculations for the ion transport properties unde
r repulsive potentials in the form A.r(-n) for n = 4, 8 and infinity h
as been performed to understand the effects of the ion-neutral mass ra
tio. Obtained data for three mass ratios 1/1, 1/4 and 4/1 at each of 1
00 and 300K over a wide range of the reduced electric field show compl
ex but consistent mass ratio dependences. The effects of mass ratios o
n the variation of ion mobilities are discussed in relation with the c
hange of mean collision frequencies.
