The breeding behaviour of the Madagascar Wagtail Motacilla flaviventri
s was studied at Andranobe on the Masoala Peninsula, Madagascar, for s
even days in October 1993. Observations were begun during the incubati
on phase of the nesting cycle. Both sexes participated in incubating t
he two eggs, and brooding and feeding the nestlings. The behaviour of
the adults differed markedly as it related to the feeding of the nestl
ings. Only one nestling fledged from the nest.
