Abstract
Ustiloxin F, a microtubule inhibitors was isolated as a minor metaboli te of Ustilaginoidea virens. The structure was determined from the spe ctral data and by chemical inter-elation to ustiloxin B through reduct ive removal of the sulfoxide-containing side chain of ustiloxin B to g ive ustiloxin F. Usliloxin F inhibited microtubule assembly with an IC 50 value of 10.3 mu M.
