Abstract
Atomic emission spectrometry was applied for the determination of pota ssium and sodium concentrations in crude drugs and decoctions. The con tent of the two elements and potassium-sodium ratios of medicinal plan t extracts were measure as a basis for evaluating diuretic activity. T he potassium-sodium ratios were higher in the diuretic plant decoction s, than in crude drug decoctions used for different activities. (C) 19 98 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
