The state-of-the-art in the field of synthesis and characterization of
functional polymers obtained by the method of catalytic (statistical
and alternating) copolymerization of olefins and carbon monoxide (CO)
is reviewed. The features of the synthesis of binary (olefin-CO) copol
ymers, the effect of various process conditions on the copolymerizatio
n rate and some properties of the target copolymers, mechanism of copo
lymerization, and the structure, properties, and possible applications
of the alternating copolymers are considered.
