Abstract
Libraries of peptides in which a centrally located linker group is int roduced to deliberately disrupt the ordered backbone structure and all ow the flanking amino acid sidechains to cluster together are called ' 'hinge'' or ''hairpin'' peptide libraries. Screening of these librarie s with bioassays directed towards breast cancer and multiple sclerosis has yielded promising new leeds in the search for novel therapeutic e ntities to treat these diseases.
