Jm. Rohrbach et al., ACCIDENTAL RETINECTOMY DURING BLOCK-EXCIS ION BECAUSE OF EPITHELIAL INGROWTH, Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 210(4), 1997, pp. 225-226
A 3.5-year-old girl suffered from a penetrating injury of the left eye
. One and a half years later epithelial ingrowth was detected. Althoug
h block-excision was performed in the usual manner without technical p
roblems the retina was excised accidentally. Histology revealed that t
he retina had been massively displaced in anterior direction prior to
surgery because of fibrovascular proliferations.
