Thirty-two high-risk newborns requiring continuing special care were t
ransported to one hospital or another. They were transported in styrop
or boxes in order to maintain temperature. Oxygen was bubbled through
the ventilatory hole of the box. The babies receiving inotrope infusio
n continued to receive it during transportation. Babies getting intrag
astric feed received their tweeds 30-45 min before transportation. No
baby became hypothermic or failed to maintain colour or required resus
citation during transportation. Heart rate and respiratory rate remain
ed in an acceptable range.
