This article raises questions regarding the development of feminist re
sistance to male violence against women. Consideration is given to the
ways in which feminists have challenged the construction of this ''pr
oblem'' and resisted the imposition of biased myths which render ''wom
en'' passive victims. Research has uncovered the various constructions
of prejudicial legislation and biased implementation such that women
can be further oppressed. By locating male violence within patriarchal
relations of power and recognizing the interlocking nature of ''race'
', class and gender systems with which male violence engages questions
are raised about the ''global'' nature of feminist resistance to male
violence against women.
