Abstract
We have measured magnetic linear and circular dichroism (MLDAD and MCD AD) for 2p(3/2) and 3p core excitation of a ferromagnetic nickel singl e crystal (110) surface. For the 2p(3/2) resonance excitation, the obs erved MLDAD in the 3p photoemission and 2p3p3p Auger emission show a q ualitative agreement with the theoretical calculation. In the valence band region, the MLDAD and MCDAD for the 3p resonance are quite differ ent from the MLDAD for the 2p(3/2) resonance excitation. (C) 1998 Else vier Science B.V.
